For hundreds of years, shapeshifters have always walked among humans. They could take the form of anything they chose, animals, other humans, objects. They appear no different than any other human, except that they could change their shape. However, most of the shapeshifters have died out. You see, shapeshifters are part of Native American tribes, most have strayed from their paths and have lost the knowledge, but there are still some tribes that have retained the old ways. When a child is born, they can only change into their birth animal, but when the child reaches adulthood and completes a test, they may change into anything their heart desires. However, the children of this particular tribe never had the chance. Around 13 years ago, a great storm seperated the children from their parents. The storm caused the children to seek shelter in a camp, a camp of poachers. The poachers decided that they would sell the children for a larger profit. The children were imprisoned until they were able to leave to go back to the city.
Many years passed after the children were sold to mortals who wished to adopt children, the mortals either could not have children of their own, were denied the chance by others or wanted a companion for their other children. The children had no memories of their past life with their birth parents or even the power they posessed. These children are now discovering their strange abilities for the first time, or so it would seem. Nothing's ordinary with these shapeshfiters. So please, Tell Me What the Rain Knows, maybe I can get a clue.
